"Ella has been working with my 9 and 12 year old daughters for a few months now. I have been really impressed with Ella’s professionalism, she is very reliable and is always well prepared for the sessions and uses resources thoughtfully.
Ella listened to my observations and concerns about the girls at the outset and undertook her own assessment of where the girls were at the start. Ella feeds back each week as to what has been covered and the strengths and weaknesses that the activities she has undertaken with the girls uncover, she then goes on to work further with them on topics that have been tricky.
She is happy to be flexible and help out with homework, which at times has been very useful when we haven’t been able to fit it all in. The girls enjoy being with Ella and are very happy to sit and work with her. I feel that their academic ability is increasing, and their teachers have fed back that they are contributing more confidently in the class. One of the girls has gone up a maths set.

Ella has been tutoring my daughter R-- (11) for the past year. She is professional, trustworthy and simply brilliant at her job.
A couple of years ago my daughter was a volunteer taking part in various practical tests that Ella had to undertake as part of her child psychology degree. R-- thoroughly enjoyed the experience and got on very well with Ella so when I heard she was tutoring I had no hesitation in employing her.

Ella makes every session fun and engaging. She has a brilliant rapport with her students. She finds out what your child is interested in and engineers the lesson around this which is just a brilliant approach in my daughter’s case as she’s easily distracted and gets bored quickly.

Whenever Ella feels R-- is losing interest or lacking enthusiasm she switches things up with activities R-- enjoys – writing newsletters, designing posters etc so she’s always having fun and learning along the way. The proof of course is in her school reports which have come along in leaps and bounds since Ella has been working with her. R--’s teachers have really noticed the difference too. Her form teacher says her enthusiasm in class is infectious and she is a joy to teach (most of which I completely attribute to Ella’s tutoring).

"I provide this reference as a mother of a child who was 8 years old when Ella became her tutor.
We interviewed a great deal of potential tutors for the role and Ella was our first choice.
Ella provided nurturing and highly engaging tutoring to my daughter M--, in what were sometimes testing circumstances. For example, M-- had a relatively short amount of time (some 5 months) before she was to sit a highly competitive 9+ entrance examination for Highgate junior school and the summer break meant that there was little time to prepare.
Ella initially assessed M-- and then produced a realistic an rigorous timetable of tutoring – which included 2 hour sessions two times per week. Her job was made more difficult by the fact that we were away for a whole of August. Ella was extremely diligent. She is caring and compassionate as a teacher and I was impressed by how she managed to keep M-- motivated and engaged during the long sessions.
Ella is also extremely personable and easy to deal with. She was accommodating of our schedule – which did not always coincide with hers. She was brilliant at allaying our ‘parental anxiety’. For example she provided detailed reports on M--’s progress, areas of improvement and she was always responsive and engaging with us as parents.

My daughter has been having online sessions with Ella since the start of lockdown. Despite my initial reservations as to how this was going to work, the remote tutoring has been a great success.
My daughter has said it’s not much different to having Ella in the room and it even seems to focus her attention more having Ella in front of her on her screen.
The lessons are structured almost the same and Ella can e-mail us anything we might need in advance. The tutoring is very hands-on and it’s great to hear how engaged my daughter is with the discussions they have. It really gets her thinking and Ella is brilliant at getting her interested and excited about learning and is constantly encouraging her to challenge herself. She always makes learning fun and relevant to my daughter.
